Technical writing translates complex technical concepts into simple language to enable a specific user or set of users to perform a specific task in a specific way. Someone specifically effective in communication requires the skills to produce quality content, language, format, and more. To present appropriate content, writers must understand the audience and purpose.Key Responsibilities:
· Review all pertinent functional and technical information from product management, development and subject matter experts to understand product functionality from the different levels of user’s perspective (such as Top Management, Implementation Consultants, Functional Users, Technical Users etc)
· Assess the impact of product changes on user information to be delivered
· Design, implement internal documentation standards and documentation strategy
· Implement industry concepts, terminology, business processes, trends and future direction
· Plan curriculum and documentation releases
· Create highest quality user information that meets standards of accuracy, ease of use and is appropriate for the product and audience
· Analyze existing materials produced by the information development organization, define high ROI areas for improvement and evaluate proposed designs for materials for appropriateness and technical feasibility
· Identify and implement ways to improve information development processes for group, team and division
· • Write detailed information design plans and maintain estimates for project delivery
· Anticipate potential problems and propose solutions for management and development team
· Understand usability best practice and participate in user needs analysis.
· Understand the product requirements.
· Demonstrated ability to quickly grasp and document technical, abstract, or advanced concepts very clearly to any audience level required by a product.
· Demonstrated excellence in writing clearly and concisely
Preferred Education and Experience:
· 8-10 years experience in building and improving commercial, enterprise-class online and print-styled software documentation for the full range of end users.
· Strong experience with solving communication problems for conceptually complex products, especially those including subjects such as networking, security, databases, and application-server architectures.
· Direct experience with Healthcare products is highly desirable.
· Experience with content management systems like AuthorIT, Documentum, FrameMaker, graphics tools like Adobe Photoshop, MS Visio, advanced MS Word skills; experience with DITA will be a huge plus.
