Job Purpose:
The role of the Test Engineer, Firmware is to test software for Our Client’s range of wireless chips. Scripting languages such as Tcl/Tk, Perl and Python may be used.
An engineer will take ownership of the testing of certain aspects of a project and will be responsible for delivering the software test results on a timescale agreed with the group leader. Mentoring will provided from more experienced engineers.Tasks will be well defined and the engineer is expected to work with moderate supervision.
Key Responsibilities:
Task definition and work breakdown including time estimation
Tests software of moderate scale and complexity to agreed timescales under moderate supervision;
Investigate software defects and suggest root cause to development engineers
Writes and maintains software test scripts;
Contribute to the development of internal test system
Deliver high quality software test results in line with the department’s processes;
Contributes to the creation of relevant documentation following the department’s processes;
Conduct peer reviews of software test results
Required:
Proven experience in Tcl/ Tk/ Expect
Proven experience of testing commercial embedded software
Good understanding of software test methodologies
Experience in testing and verification of Bluetooth firmware/L2CAP/RFCOMM layers
Experience in Bluetooth IOP and qualification testing.
Understand Bluetooth specifications and module requirements and translate into test plan.
Working knowledge of C
Understanding of software test debug techniques
Effective team player
Good communicator
Good problem solving ability
Experience with software configuration tools
Willing to travel to other Our Clients locations for knowledge transfer and project cooperation
B.Tech/B.E. – Computers, Electronics, Electrical, Telecommunications or equivalent
Desired:
Competent with using laboratory equipment such as scopes, digital multimeters, etc
Some experience of software development
Commercial awareness – understands the dynamics of the customer/client relationship
Experience with Agile methodologies, specifically Scrum
