The Role
Design, Develop & Execute test scripts to cover functional, scalability, performance, system testing and characterisation for L2 & L3 technologies using Ixia Test Equipment and Applications.
Work with tier 1 customer to integrate Ixia test systems into their native environments. Be proficient in software engineering discipline and be able to code in C, C++, Tcl and Perl.
Provide multifunctional role within the Global Services Team including technical support, Training as well as Professional Services. Be able to provide leadership in this area for a small team of test automation, test and support engineers and contractors if required.
Work closely with the customer in understanding requirements, identifying a strategy for meeting the customer needs, problem identification, analysis and re-creation
Lead in test script design, bulk automation and test execution
Provide analysis of test results
Essential to be able to ‘hit the ground running’
Candidate Skills & Experience
The candidate must have very strong Networking and Protocols knowledge. An ideal background would be an R&D Test or Systems Integration and Test environment. The candidate should possess a proven ability to code test harnesses in Tcl. Other characteristics are to be highly organised and possess a keen analytical and structured approach to problem solving.
- Overall; 7+ years networking industry experience
- Project management: MS Project and Project Management principles.
- Hands on experience of
Routing and MPLS protocols such as: OSPF,
- It is desirable to have experience using Ixia test equipment and applications for test case automation: IxTclHAL, IxOS, IxExplorer, IxNetwork and IxLoad
- Experience working with customers in a professional services capacity.
- Experience in Tcl and Perl
- Strong QA Skills on bug isolation, bug report writing and troubleshooting.
- Can promote and support best practice test development.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Personable, Confident Team Player, Customer Focused.
- Ability to take the initiative and think through courses of action
- Degree qualified in a Science based subject and/or equivalent industry experience in the Data/Telecoms market.
