Job Description
Overview:
The Roaming Technical Support
Engineer II will be responsible for various tasks related to assisting with the
integration and maintenance of GSM roaming partner. As well as the signaling
set up, testing and confirmation with roaming partner including scheduling,
coordinating and troubleshooting IREG/TADIG testing.
Detail Job Description:
Principal Duties
and Responsibilities:
Client Support
1. Single point of contact for all
roaming partner issues
2. IOT negotiation and roaming
strategy development
3. Work with roaming department to
create all roaming related documentation in accordance with GSM standards
4. Create, define and implement
network requirements to enable roaming with network engineering group
5. Establish and test IREG
interconnect between client and its signaling provider and/or roaming partner
6. Work in conjunction with staff to
create IR.21
7. Provide general information on
roaming
8. Assist in the deployment and
management of fraud protection services
9. Coordinate the entire IREG
process and implementation for client
Support
1. Understanding of the key
processes to establish GSM roaming services required by a GSM operator
including implementation of voice, SMS, GPRS, 3G, HSPDA;
2. Coordinate all contract requests
to and from GSM operators, including correspondence, revision and review,
distribution, internal notices, etc;
3. Update and distribute clients GSM
PRDs as needed to internal and external parties
4. SIM card management
5. IR.21 Exchange with roaming
partners
6. Implementation and trouble
shooting of network data fill
7. Signaling set up, testing and
confirmation with roaming partner including scheduling and coordinate
IREG/TADIG testing
Cross-functional team
1. Proactively address support
issues by working with different teams within the Roaming Department
2. Responsible for coordinating with
all groups to prepare for roaming testing
3. Review deliverables prepared,
facilitate team production, hold regular status meetings with roaming team, and
resolve and/or escalate issues in a timely fashion
Training and Documentation
1. Act as trainer to the client in
all aspects related to implementing GSM roaming
2. Work with Client’s roaming
department to train and create all roaming related documentation in accordance
with GSM standards
3. Will be required to instruct
client in set up of all process for IREG and TADIG testing
5. Create and execute project work
plans and revise as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements
6. Report to executive management
status of overall project
7. Monitor GSM InfoCentre website
for issues requiring updates to documentation
Position Requirements:
Technical Requirements
1. Bachelor’s Degree in
telecommunications or business related field preferred (experience can replace
the degree requirement).
2. Software Engineering experience,
including 4+ years experience working in a IREG testing environment preferred
3. 5+ year’s experience in areas of
technical customer support, problem management and roaming implementation
4. Strong troubleshooting and error
analysis skills
5. Strong understanding of GSM
standards and testing methods
6. 5+ years of technical experience
and knowledge of GSM switch/network billing and GSM standards
